CHESTER, WV –Country super star  Martina McBride will appear in concert at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort on August 6. With over 20 top ten hits, McBride has been named CMA female vocalist of the year four times and Academy of Country Music female vocalist of the year winner three times and has successfully charted on both country and adult contemporary genres.

Known for her big-voiced ballads and soprano range, McBride first hit the charts in 1993 with “My Baby Loves Me” which went to #2 on the Billboard Country Chart. It’s follow-up, “Life #9,” subsequently reached the Country Top 10.  But, it was her third single, “Independence Day,” a song about domestic abuse,  that became her signature song.  The song at first didn’t reach Top Ten due to some radio programmers objecting to the song’s subject of a mother fighting back against abuse by burning the family home to the ground.  It won “Video of the Year” by the Country Music Awards and gave battered women a voice.  No celebrity name is more synonymous with the fight against domestic violence than McBride and she is now the Spokesperson for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

In her sixth album “Martina” celebrated womanhood with “This One’s for the Girl’s” soaring to #3 on the Billboard Country Chart and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart.  The second single, “In My Daughter’s Eye’s,” reached #3 as well on the country chart and #5 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

The concert begins at 9 p.m. and will be located in THE HARV.  Tickets are $69.99; $59.99, $49.99 and $29.99 .  Tickets go on sale June 15 and can be purchased by visiting Mountaineer’s web site at www.mtrgaming.com or www.etix.com; calling 1-800-80-40-HOT or by visiting the Frequent Player Club at the Downtown Speakeasy.
