CHESTER, WV — A West Virginia State Super Featherweight Championship will be featured in the World Class Boxing match slated for November 17 in the Grande Ballroom at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort. Monty Meza Clay (13-4-1) of Pittsburgh will defend his title against Fred Neal (18-4-3) of Cleveland, Ohio. Meza Clay is coming off an impressive 7th-round stoppage over 13-4-1 Dean White in a nationally broadcast co-feature bout on ESPN2 from Mountaineer. Meza- Clay won the West Virginia title in 2004 with a 3rd round destruction of Terrance Roy.
In the evening's co-feature, Verquan "The Show" Kimbrough (15-1-1, 7 KOs) of Aliquippa, PA will meet James Baker (13-7-3, 4 KOs) of Washington, DC. Kimbrough's last bout was also nationally televised on ESPN2 when he pitched a shutout decision win over Marty Robbins. Baker has fought at Mountaineer before in 2005 when he lost a controversial 8-round split decision to Meza-Clay.
The card will also have a special 6-round event featuring a boxer who appeared on this year's "The Contender" series. Michael "Cold Blood" Clark (35-4, 16 KOs) of Columbus, Ohio will have his first fight since being eliminated from the reality show that is produced by Sylvester Stallone and hosted by Sugar Ray Leonard. He will battle Johnnie "Live Wire" Walker (18-21, 12 Kos) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Three 6-round Heavy-Weight contests will be on the card: Dan Harvison (14-0, 9 KOs) of McKeesport, PA vs E.T. Whitaker (32-23-2, 1 KO) of Youngstown; Mike "Fully Loaded" Carr (15-1-2, 8 KOs) vs. Eric Starr of Shelby, North Carolina; and "Dangerous" Jim Northey of Brookville, PA against a yet to be determined opponent.
Tickets are $100 - Platinum, $50 - Gold and $25 - Reserved and can be obtained at any Ticketmaster location or on-site at the Downtown Speakeasy Frequent Player's Club. A sellout is expected with limited seating in the Grande Ballroom so purchasing tickets in advance is strongly suggested. |
