CHESTER, WV — The legendary "Temptations" with special guest, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, will perform at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on May 24 at The Harv...
For decades The Temptations have been anointed as the standard-bearers for the Motown sound due to their breath-taking harmony and their stylish choreography. With hit tunes that have become woven into the fabric of pop music's tapestry, the Temptations will bring back memories of the Sixties with "The Way You Do The Things You Do," "My Girl" and "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me." The group's indelible imprint on the Seventies will be remembered with hits that include "Papa Was a Rolling Stone," "I Can't Get Next To You" and "Superstar."
The Temptations' story has been the stuff of which movies are made while their songs have been the basis of many a moonlight rendezvous. Their legendary appeal has not only endured the test of time, but also crossed international and social barriers. Their audiences have varied from tiara wearers to kids who scraped their lunch money together to buy tickets so they might hear a long succession of hits including "Treat Her Like A Lady" and "Soul to Soul."
Special Guest Mary Wilson was a charter member of "The Supremes." From 1964 to 1967, The Supremes dominated commercial radio airplay with hits "Where Did Our Love Go," "Baby Love" and "Stop, In The Name of Love." In 1970, however, Diana Ross had embarked on a solo career and Florence Ballard had departed due to health reasons. Flo and Diana were replaced and Mary became the only member to perform with the group until 1977 when they officially disbanded.
Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. are $60 - Gold, $40 - Reserved and $20 - General Admissions and can be purchased through any Ticketmaster location or on site at the Downtown Speakeasy Roarin' 20's Players Club.
