CHESTER, WV - The Charlie Daniels Band will appear in concert at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on August 18. Special guest “The Poverty Neck Hillbillies” will be the opening act for the evening. With a quintessentially Southern style, Daniels epitomizes the “lone cowboy” individualism of the American West. His hits include his Platinum single, “Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “”The South’s Gonna Do It Again” and “Long Haired Country Boy.”

Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, Daniels was raised on a musical diet that included Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass bands, rhythm & blues and country. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the rock n’ roll revolution ignited by Mississippian Elvis Presley. Already skilled on guitar, fiddle and mandolin, Daniels initially formed a rock n’ roll band and hit the road.

During the early years, Daniels worked as a session guitarist in Nashville prior to breaking through in 1973 with “Uneasy Rider.” His rebel anthems “Long Haired Country Boy” and “The South’s Gonna Do It” propelled his 1975 collection “Fire In the Mountain” to Double Platinum status.

Daniels’ annual world famous musical extravaganza “Volunteer Jam” concerts served as a prototype for many of today’s annual day-long musical marathon. They are considered by many historians as his most impressive contribution to Southern music.

With a career that spans 40 years, Daniels’ and his band showcase their repertoire of hits and their talent in their legendary coast to coast tours. The group has twice been voted the Academy of Country Music’s Touring Band of the Year.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be located in The Harv. Tickets are $60 – Gold, $40 – Reserved and $20 – General Admission and are available through all Ticketmaster locations or on site at Mountaineer at the Downtown Speakeasy Roarin’ 20’s Club.
