CHESTER, WV - Four title bouts will be on the card April 28 when Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort and World Class Promotions presents “Win, Place or Show,” an exciting night of boxing at THE HARV. Verquan Kimbrough will be fighting for the prestigious International Boxing Council America’s Title in the main event. Kimbrough along with other local prospects on the card will be battling the worthy opposition of their young careers.

Kimbrough, a five-time National Amateur Champion, will attempt to remain unbeaten while fighting for two titles in one night. The West Virginia and the I.B.C. America’s Featherweight belts will be on the line when he faces Chad Wright of Galion, Ohio in a ten-round contest. Wright sports an impressive 11-4 record with nine wins by way of knockout. Wright will be the first southpaw that Kimbrough will face since the amateurs. Kimbrough (10-0-1, 4 KO’s) is coming off his most impressive win since entering the professional ranks. That win was a 33-second, one punch demolition of tough Terrell Hargrove. Hargrove had stopped Scott McCracken in eight and went seven tough rounds with Monty Meza-Clay in his previous two bouts.

The very popular Meza-Clay will also face difficult opposition when he attempts to capture the N.A.B.C. Continental Title. Mesa-Clay brings to the ring a spotless 14-0 record with ten of his bouts not going the distance. His opponent will be James Baker of Washington, DC in a 10-round bout. Baker is 13-6-3 and has faced extraordinary quality opposition throughout his professional career. He has a win over previously unbeaten Guadalupe Rosales and recently lost a close ten-round nod to Mexican superstar Humberto Sotl (36-5-2). Baker will try to use his height advantage (5’7” to 5’2”) to slow the perpetual motion style of Mesa-Clay.

The other two title bouts scheduled for April 28 will feature local prospects squaring off against each other. Both bouts will be for North American Boxing organization titles and will guarantee a top 15 world ranking by the WBO. The Super Welterweight bout will pit unbeaten Joe Wyatt (19-0, 13 KO’s) of Pittsburgh and veteran George “d Butcher” Klinesmith (20-8-3, 13 KO’s) of Bloomingdale, Ohio, in what could prove to be a classic crossroads battle. The 35-year-old Wyatt will start his run at what hopes to be a World Title shot; however, the always tough Klinesmith has identical aspirations and both are using this bout to springboard their careers in that direction. Klinesmith, 8-0-1 in his last nine bouts, is managed and trained by Faith Wolfley. Faith is the wife of former Steeler lineman and current radio personality Craig Wolfley.

Another crossroads competition will occur when unbeaten Dan “Hard Way” Harvison (11-0, 8 KO’s) of McKeesport, PA takes on Mike “Fully Loaded” Carr (14-1-2, 8 KO’s) of Pittsburgh. This “Backyard Brawl” will also bring a world ranking by the WBO. This cruiserweight contest would be a worthy main event anywhere and shouldn’t be overshadowed on this exciting night of four title contests. Also scheduled on the card is heavyweight prospect Abraham “The African Assassin” Okine (14-0, 8 KO’s) and light heavyweight Robbie Strauss (3-2) in separate undercard action.

The card gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 – Platinum, $60- Gold, $40 – Reserved and $20 – General Admission and can be purchased through any Ticketmaster location or on site at Mountaineer at the Downtown Speakeasy Roarin’ 20’s Players Club.
