CHESTER, WV - CHESTER, WV – The Grassroots bring
the hits of the early 1960’s and 1970’s to the
Grande Ballroom at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort
on May 12.
For the past 30 years, the group has remained one of the
most recognized sounds on “Classic Rock” stations,
while averaging over 100 live performances each year.
Grill, the original lead singer, formed the Grass Roots
with three other singers and teamed up with mega-hit producer,
Steve Barri (the Mama’s & The Papa’s, Tommy
Roe, Four Tops and Dusty Springfield.) The Grassroots first
hit the charts in 1966 with “Where You When I Needed
You” and went on to chart 29 singles, 13 of which
went gold, and two gold albums. Included among those hits
are “Let’s Live For Today,” “Midnight
Confessions,” “Baby Hold On” and “Two
Divided By Love.
In the entire history of Rock n’ Roll only nine bands
(including the Beatles) have charted more hits on the Billboard’s
Hot 100 than the Grass Roots. With 20 million records sold
world-wide, the Grass Roots hold the all-time attendance
record for a one act, U.S. concert of 600,000 people on
July 4, 1982 in Washington, DC.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 –
