CHESTER, WV - The Division of Highways has announced that
they will be closing WV Route 2 in Hancock County south
of New Cumberland to traffic beginning at 8:00 AM, Saturday,
March 12, 2005. This closure is necessary to remove a hazardous
potential rock fall in this area. Some of the rocks have
already fallen and several massive rocks are in a precarious
position ready to fall. In order to protect the safety of
the traveling public, these rocks must be removed.
Mountaineer employees and customers traveling on Route 2,
south of New Cumberland to Mountaineer should take the detour
to Hancock County Route 9, Wylie Ridge Road and County Route
7, Hardins Run Road. Truck traffic will be detoured to Ohio
Route 7 by way of either the Chester Bridge or the Weirton-Steubenville
Bridge.
