CHESTER, WV - A “NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBORS” flea
market is being sponsored by Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort. Employees of Mountaineer are donating items
which flood victims may have lost during the recent flooding.
Furniture, household items and clothing are among the items
which will be available at a flea market to be held at THE
HARV. The flea market will be open to flood victims only
on October 30 and November 13 from 9 a.m. – 12 NOON.
All Hancock County households impacted by the flood will
be eligible for a coupon good for $100 worth of flea market
items. Those coupons will be distributed at two locations
in Hancock County:
New Cumberland/New Manchester Flood Victim Relief Center,
Trinity United Methodist Church, 304 Ridge Avenue, New Cumberland:
Wednesday, October 27 – 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday,
October 28 – 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday, October 29
– 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Salvation Army, Cove Road, Weirton: Wednesday, October
27 – 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday,
October 28 – 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.;
Friday, October 29 -9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The flea market will be open to the general public on Sunday,
October 14 with all proceeds being donated to the flood
victims’ relief fund. Mountaineer is also accepting
donations from the general public for the flea market. Those
items can be dropped off at the back door of THE HARV from
9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“While Mountaineer had donated $5,000 to provide
school children impacted by the flood with back to school
supplies, we wanted to extend our assistance to the entire
family,” said Tamara Pettit, director of public relations
at Mountaineer. “many of us at Mountaineer has a friend,
relative or neighbor impacted by flood damage and we felt
this was a great way to give them helping hand.”
