CHESTER, WV – The legendary sound of the heartland, Donnie Iris and the Cruisers, comes to Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort September 24. Famous for the rock anthems, “Ah! Leah!” and “Love is Like a Rock,” Iris and his band deliver the electrifying sound that they helped to define in the 80’s.

A native of Beaver Falls, PA, Iris was singing even at the age of five with his mother accompanying him on the piano. His talents brought him to the attention of the famous Paul Whitman, who invited Iris to appear on his national radio talent show. Iris took first prize – a brand new refrigerator.

Iris formed The Jaggerz in the late 60’s and hit number one with a song he wrote and performed, “The Rapper.” A stint with rhythm & blues group, Wild Cherry, found him performing with the band on their last album.

“Back On The Streets,” Iris’s first solo album was recorded in Beaver Falls, PA. The album, which contains “Agnes” and “She’s So Wild,” includes electrifying and urgent playing and vocals layered to a silky precision.

The concert, which will be located in the Grande Ballroom, begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 – Gold and $15 – Reserved and are available through all Ticketmaster locations or on site at the Roarin’ 20’s Frequent Player Department.
