CHESTER,WV – Three Dog Night, the classic rock band
who struck gold with “Joy To The World” in 1971,
will appear at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on
August 25. With 14 gold albums, nine gold singles and 18 songs
in the Top 20, Three Dog Night laid claim to being the most
popular band in America from 1969 to 1974.
Brought together
in in 1968 by Danny Hutton, with the novel concept of showcasing
lead singers who could also harmonize together, the group was enormously successful
right from the start. With three separate lead singers, Corey Wells, Danny
Hutton and Chuck Negron, Three Dog Night first hit the charts
with Otis Redding;s “Try
A Little Tenderness.” In 1969, “One” brought the band the first
of many Gold records and was followed by such memorable hits as “Eli’s
coming,” “Mama Told Me Not To Come” and “Celebrate.”
The
group toured extensively in the seventies, breaking attendance records in venues
ranging from concert halls to football stadiums. In 1975, however, the
rigors of the road caught up to the members of the group who opted to retire.
Now back together, Three Dog Night continues to entertain audiences with their
signature sound.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be located in Mountaineer’s
Grande
Ballroom. Concert tickets are $25 – Gold and $15- Reserved and are available
at all Ticketmaster locations or on site at Mountaineer at the Roarin’ 20’s
Frequent Player Department.
