CHESTER,WV- Kaptain Robbie Knievel, son of legendary daredevil Evel Knievel, will stare down the face of death as he attempts a perilous motorcycle jump at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort. Slated for 7 p.m. July 8, Knievel’s 150-foot-jump will attempt for the first time ever to clear two starting gates along with horse trailers and will take place on the south entrance road near THE HARV. The event is part of “Proud to be an American” week also featuring an American Title fight featuring Verquan Kimbrough on July 7 and AMERICA live in concert on July 9.

Robbie’s numerous live televised jumps have taken him from the fountains at Caesar’s Palace to the gap at the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon jump of 228 feet broke Robbie’s previous record of 223 feet set in Florida in the early 1990s.
The second generation of Knievels who have elected to defy death time and time again with their daring stunts, Robbie Knievel watched as his father spent 28 years flying motorcycles over 300 jumps and broke thirty-five bones in the process.

While other children may have watched “Superman” on TV, Robbie Knievel had the real live super hero as his Dad. While other youngsters purchased Evel Knievel dolls and fashioned pretend jumps, Robbie watched as his charismatic father tried to clear the fountain at Caesar’s Palace or the Snake River Canyon.

Robbie’s decision to craft his career in the same mode… facing death with each jump….was made at an early age. At age eight, a time when most youngsters his age were signing up for Little League baseball, Robbie made his first jump in Madison Square Garden. At age 11, he appeared live on ABC sports before 50,000 cheering onlookers. He had discovered life as a motorcycle daredevil was the path he also wanted to follow.
“It’s about being free to do whatever I want,” said Robbie. “Three generations of fans have now seen me and my Dad facing death every time we jump. They(the fans) know we’re real and they know we speak from our hearts.”
The Knievel family legend continues at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on July 8.
