CHESTER, WV - A trio of chart-topping recording artists will come together for a trip down memory lane at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on May 6. Lou Christie, The Tymes and Diamond Dave Somerville will appear in concert in the Grande Ballroom.

Christie began his multi-million selling career as a songwriter, recording artist and performer in a two-track studio in Glenwillard, PA, his rural hometown near Pittsburgh. His first million-selling song, THE GYPSY CRIED, transformed him into a national teen idol while still a teen himself. Christie followed his debut hit with greater successes TWO FACES HAVE I, featuring his stratospheric falsetto, and LIGHTNING STRIKES, RHAPSODY IN THE RAIN and I’M GONNA MAKE YOU MINE.

With three of the original four members, THE TYMES recreate the magic of SO MUCH IN LOVE, the classic that was the first record to replace to replace the Beatles in the number one slot on the British charts. The groups hits spanned the mid-60’s through the mid-70’s and included WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, SOMEWHERE and YOU LITTLE TRUSTMAKER.
Diamond Dave Somerville, the lead singer for the Diamonds from 1955-1961, charted 16 hits for the group during his tenure. Somerville’s voice defined the sound of the Diamonds on such classics as LITTLE DARLIN, THE STROLL and WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE. Many hit recording artists such as Bob Dylan and Carol King reported Somerville’s vocal style had influenced their own while Elvis Presley was said to have been one of Somerville’s fans.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 – Gold and $15 – Reserved and are available through all Ticketmaster locations or on site at Mountaineer at the Downtown Speakeasy Roarin’ 20’s Players Club.
