CHESTER, WV - The legendary Paul Anka will appear in concert
at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort on October 16.
One of the 21st Century’s best-loved entertainers, Anka
has well over 900 songs to his credit, the most memorable being
Put Your Head On My Shoulder, My Way and the theme from “The
Tonight Show” starring Johnny Carson.
Named one of Billboard magazine’s most successful artists,
Anka launched his career as a teen idol with Diana in 1957
and by the age of 18 had five Top-20 hits. His appeal has spanned
decades. In 1974 Anka returned to the Number One slot with
You’re Having My Baby, recorded with singing protégé Odia
Coates. The duo followed with two singles, One Man Woman/One
Woman Man and I Don’t Like To Sleep Alone, with both
charting the Top Ten. In 1975, Anka’s solo hit, Times
of Your Life, not only achieved hit status, but became imbedded
in the memories of the American public as is chronicled the
saga of the American family.
Anka’s contributions to the entertainment industry have
earned him numerous awards, He was presented the title “Chevalier
in the Order of Arts and Letters” by the French government,
one of only a handful of Americans to receive this prestigious
award. Anka was elected into The Songwriter’s Hall of
Fame by the National Academy of Popular Music.
Anka’s appeal like his music is timeless as it speaks
to the very heart and soul of his fans.
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be located at
THE HARV. Tickets are $65 – Gold; $35 – Reserved;
and $18 – General Admission and are available at all
Ticketmaster locations or on site at Mountaineer at the Downtown
Speakeasy Roarin 20’s Players Department.
