CHESTER, WV - Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort will
feature activities for the entire family during “America’s
Day at the Races” on Labor Day, September 1. Gates open
at 11 a.m. for the day’s activities, which are sponsored
Mountaineer and the National Throughbred Racing Association.
Free pony rides are available for youngsters from 2 to 4 p.m.
Youngsters can decorate a t-shirt from 4 – 6:30 p.m.
and a horseshoe from 4 – 7 p.m. with prizes awarded for
the most uniquely decorated t-shirts and horseshoes. Free coloring
books and crayons will be given away outside the Marketing
Department in the Grandstand from 4 p.m. until the supplies
are depleted.
Youngsters 5 to12-years-old can compete for prizes in a Kids
Derby, slated to take place at 5 p.m. on the racetrack. Pre-registration
is necessary for the Derby. A jockey autograph session will
take place between races and the winning jockey of each race
will distribute free t-shirts from the Winner’s Circle
following each race. Adults will have the opportunity to win
a trip for two to the Breeder’s Cup in Santa Anita through
a Breeder’s Cup Giveaway.
Beginning at 7 p.m. post time and continuing through the last
race, adults wagering on Mountaineer’s live races will
have the opportunity to win $10,000 in cash and prize giveaways.

We’ve put together a great day of fun for the entire
family,” said Rosemary Williams, Mountaineer’s
director of racing.
