CHESTER, WV - Sherman “The Tank” Williams (24-7,
13 KO’s) of Miami will battle “Railroad” Tye
Fields (28-1, 27 KOs) of Des Moine, Iowa on September 2 in
a USBA Heavyweight Title Fight featured on ESPN 2’sTuesday
Night Fights at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort.
Williams, 6 ft., 230 lbs., was the national champ in his native
Bahamas prior to turning pro. He represented the Bahamas in

guided the careers of Juan LaPorte and Jorge Valdes. Williams
remained undefeated in twelve bouts after connecting with Foster
until a perforated eardrum resulted in a stoppage in the fifth
round against Robert Davis. After a loss against Tommy Martin,
Williams began working with former Olympic Team Coach Patrick
Burns and his boxing career gained steam. He easily defeated
Ron Guerrero in New York City, but was held in a draw against
Jameel McCline in a highly controversial decision. After a
defeat of Kevin Rooney protégé, Cisse Salif,
he lost to Obed Saullivan in a NABF title fight. Now trained
by former world champ, Buddy McGirt, Williams has returned
to win column with decisions over former champ Alfred “Ice” Cole
and Samson Pohula.
Up-and-coming heavyweight Tye Fields comes to the boxing ring
from the basketball courts, Fields is a former player for the
San Diego State basketball team as the Des Moine Dragons, a
semi-pro team in Iowa. He credits his footwork in the ring
to his experience on the basketball court.

fights under his belt. With a history of first-round KOs, Fields
possesses one of the hardest punches in the Heavyweight division.
He currently holds the USBA Midwest Regional Heavyweight title
and is the Iowa Heavyweight champion. He has appeared on ESPN
Direct TV and MSG Sports TV.

Lewis and contender Vladmir Klitchko and is now training at
the Kronk Gym in Detroit with Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel
Stuart in preparation for his September title bout.
