CHESTER, WV - The area’s hottest young talent will be featured when the Professional Boxing Series returns to Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort October 29. The feature bout will have former amateur National Champion Verquan Kimbrough in his third professional contest. The setting will be Mountaineer’s Grande Ballroom, which has the fans on top of the action in an exciting setting.

Kimbrough will be attempting to stay unbeaten when he battles Carl Hobgood of Columbus, Ohio in a four-round bout. The Aliquippa native made his mark nationally in the amateur ranks with several national titles, including the 2002 U.S.A. Boxing National Championship. He was also a representative for the Team U.S.A. and fought all over the world. Kimbrough will be fighting for the first time since his September 2 decision over David Maund in a nationally televised bout on ESPN2.

The co-feature, Pittsburgh's Monty Meza-Clay, (5-0, 3 KO's)
will be facing his toughest test to date. Mezza Clay will be in his
first six-round bout against tough Rashaan Abdul Blackburn of Columbus, Ohio. Blackburn should be familiar to local fans for in July of this year he upset current W.B.F. Junior Welterweight Champion "Lightning" Manard Reed in an eight-round war that saw Reed hit the canvas. To prove the outcome was not a fluke, he fought Reed to an eight-round draw in an October 11th rematch.

The remainder of the under card will serve host to boxers that cover the tri-state area. Youngstown's Billy Lyel (3-0, 2 KO's) will be testing the waters in his first six-round contest against Nick Woods (2-2, 2 KOs) of Cleveland. Other bouts will include Aliquippa ' s Scott McKracken (14-4, 10 KOs), George "Da Butcher" Klinesmith (14-8, 7 KO's) of Steubenville, Jimmy Gruber (1-0, 1 KO) of Pittsburgh and debuting female, Leslee "Long Play" Perella, also of Pittsburgh.

Fight tickets are$40 - Ringside and $20 - General Admission and are available through all Ticketmaster locations or on-site at the Downtown Speakeasy Roarin Twenties Department.
